What the actual fuck.

These were the first and only four words that came into Kazuki’s mind when the female started waving a pack of Skittles directly in front of his face. He had just happened to wander over to where she stood, his prime destination being the assortment of candy she appeared to be standing in front of. He had been idly wondering which one he should buy - when that happened.

A strange look directed towards the girl came over his features and there was a long, pregnant pause before he replied, a little pointedly and hesitantly, “No, it’s…fine.”

     Dear God, why me?

A few moments were spent praying for the ground to swallow her right now, but when nothing happened she forced herself to meet his eyes, trying to look as apologetic as possible. ‘I’m really sorry. You’re, um, you’re not a bitch. Please know that I mean that with the entirety of my soul,’ she stated as solemnly as she could.

She swayed the Skittles in front of him again, only from a more acceptable distance. 'You can still have it if you want…’ Cue a weak smile that probably looked more like a grimace.

???:

Vulgar language alert. Is this how she presented food to someone? Did she say ‘Have it your way, bitch!’ when she offered out Burger King? Was she suffering from Jesse Pinkman syndrome? He didn’t know, but she seemed energetic and full of curse words. Side-stepping away from her, Calvin was sure to make distance because she was probably a nutcase. “Did you mistake me for a bitch?” He asked once she revealed that she mistook him for another. “Also..” His words trailing off as he snatched the Skittles from her hand. “Do you kiss your parents with that mouth?” More questions leaving his mouth as he opened the package of Skittles and tossed one into his mouth, keeping a close eye on the female.

Behavior suddenly doing a one hundred and eighty degree turn from what it had been when she had mistaken this person for her friend, rose painted her suddenly warm cheeks. Embarrassment clawed at her throat. Contrite umber irises flitted left and right, unable to meet the stranger’s gaze, lest what she found there would make her faint from embarrassment.

image

'E-Eh, I didn’t mistake you for a bitch, exactly. Just a friend of mine that I call that.’ Oh, great. Now she had revealed what her friends called her “darker side” to a stranger. Most people wouldn’t think of her when hearing the phrase p o t t y m o u t h, but her friends knew better. 'But you don’t look like a bitch! At least, you wouldn’t to a normal person.’ And she didn’t kiss her parents at all, but she figured that one was rhetorical.

Trine had not even realized that event had just happened. She sometimes forgot that other people weren’t like her. That they would die if they did not pay attention to where they were walking. She merely shrugged, not caring either way if she looked idiotic or not.

”I do not really pay attention to those kinds of things. So thank you very much for pointing it out.”

”But, whatever happens, happens.” —A smirk.

      “Do you not agree?”

█▓▒░ —— ✎

Eyes narrowed ever so slightly, unnoticeable to most people unless they were looking for any specific changes in her facial expression. The reply had piqued her curiosity.

image

‘I guess,’ she replied with a shrug, not really caring but nonetheless intrigued at the girl’s strange view. 'But that’s not what you say when you’re being dragged in an emergency room because you got hit by a truck, is it?’

     '———wait, what?’

Upon direction, the male followed the pointed phalange and took his seat across from her before folding his hands politely atop the desk. Uncomfortable seating really, but I’m sure the time he would spend chatting would make it worth his while.

As emerald optics left the graceful hands of his own, they found a once porcelain colored female had now been prompted to a shade of red. At the sight, he had known to be the source of her presumed embarrassment

A light, almost inaudible, chuckle escaped moistened tiers, and a hand lifted to catch his laughter.

image

Pardon me, I’m not laughing at you. Near you, rather.

█▓▒░ —— ✎

     'Oh, um, it’s okay.’

Lo and behold! Red skin turned even redder, if that was even possible. A quick glance was stolen at the male sitting across her before flickering back towards fingers laced with one another. His laugh creates a thought in her head; disregarding her shortness, she was old enough to be mistaken as a senior, or even a college freshman. To the other customers of the cafe, they probably looked like a couple.

Color then proceeds to drain out of her face, leaving her paler than ever. While a fan of romance novels, she found the real thing rather distasteful. Lips muttered a quick prayer that none of her classmates would pass by this area and see them and assume the wrong thing.

Deep breaths, deep breaths. Once she considered herself to be adequately composed, she met his eyes and tried for a calm smile. ‘I’m Helina.’

Had it not been for the soft murmurs skipping about the room, she likely would have passed up the source of their interest — the figure in the corner, residing within the shadows, almost like a vampire who’s afraid of touching the light. However, there was obviously an alternate reason behind her sulking.

The scene was oddly similar to Tamaki’s bouts of depression; perhaps that’s why she was at ease enough to take the initiative and venture nearer (though cautiously).

❝ Ah— Hey. Are you alright?

For a moment, the speaker’s cropped hair made her classify them as a male, but as umber eyes narrowed and she perused them like they were a book, the realization that the speaker was a she hit her like a s l a p .

Well, not like a slap, really. It wasn’t that shocking. If he were a boy, he would look like a very ƒємιηιηє boy, in her opinion.

‘Yeah,’ she answered the question like she had been asked it a thousand times before and didn’t bother anymore to think of an honest and legitimate answer. 'I was just.. shocked about something, that’s all. It’s no biggie.’ But the corners of her lips were pulled down, the sight contradictory to her statement.

If he keeps rolling his eyes like
this, they might just fall out of
          their sockets. How many times
had she said the exact same
          thing?

( To be fair, she did help him with
           sentence diagramming. )

'I have no idea what you’re talking
      about.’

          Although Helina is an excellent L I A R,
this trait is rarely put to use around her
friends, especially around one who has
known her for as long as Arthur has.
When she fibs in her friends’ faces,
measures are usually taken to make
sure that they know she is only playing
          around.

     'But did you do it?’

She really did need his help, after all.

Sensitive ears perks up, clearly hearing the muffled voice supposedly aimed at her, even through the blare of the moving truck. Apparently she has been caught out, carelessly crossing the road to have promptly jumped back as soon as purple hues spotted the truck speeding by. Her gaze drifts from the road to the owner of the voice. In an attempt to hide the embarrassment as well as annoyance seeping through her voice, Yuyuka plasters on a weak smile.

”…Ah, you saw that just now?”

image

█▓▒░ —— ✎

A lie rests on the tip of her tongue, but the other’s statement promptly melts it away, and instead she finds herself blankly blinking at the other girl instead of spinning a believable lie with her lips forced into a natural-looking smile. It was sad, how she was so much more articulate when she was in the process of lying, compared to how she was when conversing without any deceitful intent.

image

’…yeah,’ she finally replies with a shrug. Then, adding quite lamely, ‘and glad to see that you avoided it.’

“Those people who thinks otherwise

are stupiddddd. I tell ya! And books are

  awesome! Except for old literature,

I cant read olde english like seriously.”

Yes,Rose. That’s why your English Literature

is failing, and you get shit for it.

     'Eh, Old Literature is fine.’

A bit of hesitance accompanied her
decision to share an opinion with a
stranger, but she did so anyway.
English was one of the topics that
         genuinely interested her, and was
her best subject in school as well.
         Confidence wasn’t something that
she felt regarding most things, but
when she did, she felt no urge to hide
         it.
